My first introduction to the corporate events world was as a 17 year old, DJ’ing a run of twenty ABBA themed Christmas parties at a very shabby London venue which served the worst Christmas dinner you have eaten.

As a result, I can no longer listen to ABBA, and I can’t eat turkey, but this experience inspired me to want to create fantastic Christmas Parties that provide a great venue, stunning food and original and exciting entertainment.

Over the past few years, the Christmas party market has taken a bit of a hammering, but I still maintain, that done well, the annual Christmas Party is one of most enjoyable and cost effective ways to acknowledge staff, encourage team bonding, and show them that they are appreciated.

For me, a Christmas party should be a reward, therefore it’s no good serving your staff food they wouldn’t be happy paying for themselves, or forcing them to listen to the MD drone on for half an hour about targets and mission statements. If you are going to do something, do it properly, go for good food, a good location and some genuinely fun entertainment. If the boss insists on speaking it should simply be to say THANK YOU.

Thankfully, The London Christmas party market has moved on significantly since the days of dry turkey and ABBA tribute bands, and many event companies now offer great value packages, stunning surroundings and excellent entertainment.

When booking your Christmas party be sure to use a reputable firm, who have a history of providing high quality parties, do your research, there are many great event companies out there. but there are also many who just want bums on seats, with no regard to the quality of what they are offering.

If you are restrained by budget, don’t cut back on the key components such as quality food and drink, entertainment etc. Perhaps go for a less popular day of the week, or consider holding your party during the day. There are some fantastic deals to be had if you able to be a bit flexible on dates.
